SUMMER : October — March

Grazing is high in protein, energy and highly digestible, Veldgrazing is green, very palatable and high intakes are achieved. Phosphorous and salt deficiencies are very common on grazing in South Africa. Feed a Phosphorous lick: P6 or P12 with salt(50kg P12 plus 50kg salt). Ensure that lick contains at least 5% molasses to increase palatability.

RECOMMENDED INTAKE:
Cattle: 100-240g per day.
Sheep: 18-36g per day

AUTUMN AND WINTER : April — September

Digestibility of the grazing is still good, but with seed forming of the grazing translocation of nutrients from leaves to the
roots of the plants is forming. There is a deficiency of protein phosphorous and salt.

This is a ready mixed concentrate that must be fed ad libitum with hay while finishing cattle. Clean drinking water and hay must be available at all times to increase feed in-take.

* The younger animals should be fed the concentrate and roughage separately, with both be available ad libitum.
** In the finishing phase the feed should be mixed into a TMR (total mixed ration). The TMR must be available ad libitum. The animals must be adapted slowly to con-centrate feeding (two to three weeks). The maize must be rolled or milled to a fine grit or meal for better digestibility. This feed contains a growth promoter.
